A little about me
Hi I’m Sonja the founder of the more human company. A straight talking Scot with a passion for coffee, conversation, and hugging trees.
The catalyst for the more human company was my burnout and recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome. When I was finally diagnosed with CFS I asked myself two questions. How did I get here? How do I ensure I never get here again?
The answer to those two questions led me to spending the last decade studying (I’m a super nerd), asking hard personal questions, making often difficult changes and creating what I share with you here. It led me to wellbeing and leadership, shining a light on how I lived and led.
It led to the creation of the more human company where I often state my missions is helping people to not burnout and not be assholes. They tend to be connected. I did say straight talking Scot.
I also learnt it all starts with one breath which is why breathing is including in just about every program I offer. It is our key to productivity, behaviours, emotions and wellbeing.
I believe we can all human better, show up with intention and support each other and protect our planet.
Before stepping into the world of entrepreneurship I spent decades working in international economic development in leadership roles across Australia, the UK, and the USA. I had the privilege to work with successful startups and Fortune 500 companies to help them expand internationally. Today I still work with many of these companies helping them create cultures which are more human and get results.
I LOVE WHAT I DO, HERE IS WHAT OTHERS SAY
“It is easy to underestimate how important proper breathing is. Even after the session I’m still breathing deeper, slower with a renewed sense of calm and focus”
- ASH HARTMAN, CORPORATE COUNSEL OPTUS
“The breathing workshop was a wonderful, eye-opening experience, immediate and impactful. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking stress resilience!”

Why more human leadership matters
It’s time to prioritise people and planet. Globally we face huge systemic challenges. We need to reimagine leadership focusing on and acknowledging the need for inner growth and development and prioritising it alongside strategy, logic and financial growth.
Supporting founders and leaders to realise their full potential without compromising their wellbeing is a smart business decision. People are your biggest asset whether you are a startup, scaleUp, VC, or Fortune 500 we are all human, and all have our stress and resilience thresholds .
We all want meaning, purpose, human connectedness, a desire to contribute, to have a balanced life are what you and your people are increasingly looking for. Research continues to shine a light on the importance of employee wellbeing and the impact on reducing employee burnout, stress and absenteeism. During the ongoing pandemic there has never been a more important time to reach out to one another.
A 2019 study on entrepreneur pressure and wellbeing in the UK (270 entrepreneurs) highlighted that 79% felt lonely; 85% were regularly overwhelmed; 71% had seen a decline in physical health and 77% their mental health.
